HIM
Captured, developed, and printed images from a 35 mm black and white camera
The photographs in this series are not just a record of a physical presence but also a documentation of the encounter between the subject and myself. Photography for me is not just taking pictures of things I see but is more of a chance to see how I interact with the subject. The subjects in my photographs have a presence and reflect their existence in this world. Some can define this as beauty, or some other concept but I find it to be more complex in nature. What draws me to a subject is something beyond verbal explanation. It can, however, be influenced by the type of relationships I have with those in my life. The relationships I wanted to focus on the most were those with men. I use my own constructed image from these relationships as a vehicle for questioning ideas about the male figure. The camera captures this without effort. The image compels the viewer to consider a larger unseen reality not based on logic; a question of whether is he real.

Is that the real him?
